The Brembo valley system and steep wooded slopes are the immediate landscape, with higher alpine ground and passes above the villages. The area lies by the upper Brembo basin and close to the Orobie Bergamasche Regional Park. The nearest ski area is Carona and Foppolo, roughly 25–35 minutes by mountain road depending on the lift base. The nearest larger town is San Pellegrino Terme down the valley, with thermal facilities and a substantial early-20th-century town centre; Bergamo is the main city for services farther down the valley. This part of the valley is known for alpine pastures, hiking routes and traditional stone mountain hamlets.
