The area sits in the eastern Biella foothills, with the Biellese Prealps closing the northern horizon and lower wooded and farmed hills around the town. The Cervo valley and the mountain side of the province begin within a short drive to the north, while the plain opens south toward the rice country of the Vercelli-Novara lowlands. Biella is the nearest town of size, with the province’s main services, railway station and historic upper town of Biella Piazzo. The Santuario di Oropa and the Oasi Zegna mountain road and high pastures are in the Biella mountains but beyond the immediate 15 km landscape. The area is known above all for the long textile tradition of the Biellese.
