Location score 72/100The cluster lies in the volcanic countryside north of Rome, with tuff ravines and wooded gullies typical of the Treja valley. The river here is the Treja, and much of the immediate area falls inside the Parco Regionale Valle del Treja. Calcata is within a few kilometres on its tuff spur above the gorge, and Nepi is the nearest larger historic town in the area with everyday services and a substantial old centre. The wider landscape is known for Etruscan settlement remains, ravine villages and farmland on the volcanic plateau.
