The Serra d'Ivrea, the long glacial moraine ridge between Biella and Ivrea, is within this area and is one of the defining landforms of the province. The Cervo and Sessera valleys rise nearby toward the Biella mountains. The nearest substantial town is Biella, which has the normal services of a provincial centre and the Sacro Monte di Oropa above it is a UNESCO site. Oropa, with its sanctuary and ski area, is the nearest mountain destination and the drive is roughly 30–40 minutes depending on the starting point. The area is known for wool textiles and for the vineyard hills of Lessona and Bramaterra on the wider Biellese-Novarese side.
