This is in the built-up belt north of Milan, with continuous urban fabric, local roads, rail infrastructure and former industrial land across the Groane and lower Brianza area. The Parco delle Groane is within the area, with heathland, pine and oak woods and old sand and clay quarry landscapes. The nearest larger city is Milan, with the full services, employment and transport of a major metropolitan centre, and Monza is also close with a substantial historic centre and city services. The area is known more for suburban and industrial Lombardy than for a distinctive natural or historic landscape.
