Coastal sector of NE Sardinia (Gallura) with long sandy beaches and stretches of dune and pine-wood backing along the Tyrrhenian shore. The comune contains small tourist harbours such as Porto Ottiolu, with moorings and services for visiting boats. The local economy is strongly oriented to summer tourism: campgrounds, holiday villages and rental apartments line the coast. Inland within 15 km are low granite hills and maquis typical of Gallura, with scattered olive and cork cultivation. Posada is the nearest small historic town a few kilometres to the north with an old centre and beach area. Olbia Costa Smeralda airport and Olbia ferry terminal lie roughly 25–35 km away and are the main transport links to the area.
