The small alpine ski area at Frontignano (Ussita) is the nearest ski facility, reachable by a mountain road of roughly 15–25 minutes' drive. Nearest local towns with basic services are Ussita and Visso, which provide shops, bars and municipal offices; larger service centres such as Norcia and Camerino lie beyond the immediate valley. The area was heavily affected by the 2016–17 Central Italy earthquakes and reconstruction and stabilisation work has been a feature of recent years. The surrounding territory is used for mountain hiking, shepherding and seasonal mountain pasture agriculture.
