Trilocale in Vergato

This is in the Reno valley in the northern Apennines, with wooded ridges and mid-altitude hills around the town. The Reno river runs through the area. Much of this part of the Bolognese Apennines falls within the historical and natural area of the Parco Regionale del Corno alle Scale and the park itself begins farther south. The nearest ski lifts are at Corno alle Scale, roughly an hour by road from Vergato, so they are outside the immediate landscape. The nearest larger centre is Bologna, which provides the full range of city services and rail connections. This stretch of the Apennines is known for chestnut woods, small stone villages and the river-valley route between Bologna and Tuscany.
