No mountains within c.15 km: the site sits on the flat Po Valley plain. No natural lake or sea in the local area; the local water network is the Milanese system of canals and irrigation channels (the Navigli and smaller ditches). The Parco Agricolo Sud Milano (regional agricultural park) lies to the south/southeast within the 15 km radius and preserves farmland and rural cascine. The cluster is contiguous with the built-up area of Milan and neighbouring communes (Corsico, Trezzano sul Naviglio, Assago, Rozzano). Milan city centre and its services (major railway stations, museums, universities, hospitals) are within the urban area; Milan contains the UNESCO-listed church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (The Last Supper). The Mediolanum Forum indoor arena at Assago is within the local area. Major transport corridors and ring roads of the Milan metropolitan area cross this territory.
