Quadrilocale a Castel d'Aiano, Castel d'Aiano

The cluster is in the northern Apennines, in the hill and low-mountain country between the Reno and Panaro valleys. Around Castel d'Aiano the landscape is wooded ridges, fields and small hamlets, and the Regional Park of Monte Sole lies within about 15 km to the east. South of here the highest part of the Bolognese Apennines rises around Corno alle Scale, but the ski lifts are beyond the 15 km radius and are a longer drive rather than part of the immediate setting. The nearest town of some size is Vergato, with daily services and rail access down the Reno valley toward Bologna. This part of the Apennines is known for chestnut woods, hiking and the Gothic Line sites of the Second World War.
