The Serio river runs a few kilometres east of Caravaggio, and the Adda river is within about 15 km to the west near Cassano d'Adda. Caravaggio is known for the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Fonte, a major pilgrimage church on the plain. Treviglio, the nearest larger town, has rail links, shops and services.
