Frazione Cese, Spoleto

The cluster is in the Spoleto valley at the foot of the Umbrian Apennines, with Monte Luco immediately above the town and the Monti Martani and Valnerina landscapes within the surrounding area. The Tessino stream cuts through the town and the Nera valley is close to the east. The area is tied to the Monteluco protected woodland above Spoleto, one of the oldest holm-oak woods recorded in Italy. Spoleto itself is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre, the Roman theatre, the Rocca Albornoziana, and the Ponte delle Torri spanning the wooded gorge. The area is known for olive groves on the lower slopes and for Spoleto’s historic urban fabric and festival activity.
