Within the municipality and nearby are long-established mountain villages, chestnut woods and summer walking country; this part of the mountain is known for forestry, chestnuts and traditional villeggiatura from the Pistoia and Lucca side. The nearest larger town with broader services is Pistoia on the southern side of the mountains.
