Paciano

Lake Trasimeno lies within about 10 km to the north and contains islands including Isola Polvese and Isola Maggiore; seasonal ferries serve the islands. The area falls inside the Trasimeno lake landscape and territory administered as a regional natural area (Parco/area naturale legata al Lago Trasimeno). The immediate surroundings are low, wooded and farmed hills with olive groves, vineyards and mixed agriculture in the Trasimeno basin. Nearby hill towns include Panicale (a few kilometres away), Castiglione del Lago on the lakeshore and Città della Pieve to the south. Castiglione del Lago is the largest local town on the lake and provides a lakeside harbour, shops, services and tourist accommodation. There are Etruscan and medieval archaeological sites in the wider Valdichiana/Trasimeno area. No mountain range or ski lifts are present within the 15 km radius.
