Gubbio's medieval historic centre contains the Palazzo dei Consoli, a cathedral (Duomo) and a Roman theatre visible below the town. A funicular/cable car links the town with the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo on Monte Ingino. Within about 15 km the land is composed of forested Apennine slopes, mixed small-scale agriculture and wooded valleys. The town contains a civic museum that preserves the Eugubine Tablets and is the focal point for the annual Corsa dei Ceri festival (15 May).
