Soffitta in Bologna

This is inside the built-up area of Bologna, so the lived setting is an urban plain at the edge of the Po Valley rather than open countryside. The first hills of the Bolognese Apennine rise just south of the city, but they are outside the immediate urban fabric. Bologna is a major regional city with a large historic centre, arcades, rail links, the ring road and airport, universities, hospitals and full city services. The area is known for its food culture and for Bologna’s historic porticoed centre, including UNESCO recognition for the porticoes.
