This is on the Adriatic coast with the long low shoreline of the Ravenna littoral, including sandy beaches and coastal pinewoods. The Po Delta Regional Park extends into the northern part of the municipality around the Pialassa wetlands and the Pineta di San Vitale, with lagoons, marshes and bird habitat. Cervia's salt pans lie to the southeast within the wider coastal wetland system. Ravenna itself is the nearest city of size and has the UNESCO early Christian monuments for which it is known. The area is also known for flat reclaimed land, canals and beach resorts along the coast.
