Montemilone

The area sits on the hills between the upper Bradano basin and the Ofanto side of northern Basilicata, with cultivated ridges, wheat fields and olive groves as the immediate landscape. Monte Vulture is the main nearby landform, visible to the west, with the Vulture volcanic area and the lakes of Monticchio beyond the 15 km radius. Venosa is the nearest town of size, with services, a substantial historic centre and the abbey complex of the Santissima Trinità. This part of Basilicata is known for cereal farming, olive oil and the Aglianico del Vulture wine area on the slopes around the volcano.
