Contrada Matinelle, Tramutola

The cluster sits in the Val d’Agri, with the Lucanian Apennines rising around it and the Monte Volturino massif close by. The Agri river runs through this part of the valley. The Appennino Lucano Val d’Agri Lagonegrese National Park lies nearby and covers much of the surrounding mountain area. The nearest skiing is on Monte Sirino, roughly an hour’s drive depending on the road used and snow conditions. The nearest town of size is Potenza, which has the main rail links, shops and services for the province. This area is known for its mountain valley landscape, woods, olive groves and for the Val d’Agri oil field.
