Via Campo Bruno, Contigliano

The cluster sits in the Rieti plain at the foot of the Monti Sabini, with the higher Monti Reatini close to the north-west. The Velino river system and the wetlands and channels of the Piana Reatina shape the valley floor around Contigliano. The Riserva Naturale dei Laghi Lungo e Ripasottile lies nearby in the plain. Monte Terminillo and its ski area are the nearest lifts, roughly an hour away by road from this side of the basin. Rieti is the nearest town of size, with a full historic centre, services and a cathedral. The wider area is known for the fertile Conca Reatina and for the Franciscan sanctuaries around the valley, including Greccio nearby.
