Rimini sits on the Adriatic Sea with an extensive stretch of sandy beach and numerous bathing establishments serving summer tourism. The Marecchia river crosses the city and enters the sea at Rimini. The urban fabric includes Roman and medieval monuments such as the Arch of Augustus (Arco d'Augusto), the Tiberius Bridge (Ponte di Tiberio) and the Tempio Malatestiano. Rimini is the birthplace of film director Federico Fellini and contains museums and sites related to his life and work. Rimini–Federico Fellini International Airport is in the Miramare quarter of the municipality. The city has a railway station on the Adriatic line with direct connections to Bologna, Ancona and other cities, and the Rimini Fiera exhibition centre is in the municipal area. No national or regional park or a named mountain range lies within about 15 km; the Apennine foothills are further inland.
