The cluster is in the eastern Roman urban belt, on the plain and low hills between the Aniene valley and the first relief of the Monti Tiburtini and Lucretili. The Aniene river runs nearby. Tivoli is the nearest major historic town and has the Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este, both UNESCO sites, as well as the waterfalls of Villa Gregoriana. The Monti Lucretili Regional Park begins farther northeast, but the immediate surroundings are mainly built-up suburbs, quarries, roads and fragmented countryside tied to the Rome metropolitan area.
