Via Palistro, Ascea

The cluster is in the lower hills of the Cilento, with the Tyrrhenian coast and the mouth area of the Alento river within about 15 km. Much of the surrounding area falls in or against the Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park. The nearest sizeable town is Vallo della Lucania, which functions as the main service centre for this part of inland Cilento. Paestum and the better-known stretches of the Cilento coast are farther away and do not define the immediate landscape. The area is known for olive groves and mixed hill country between the coastal plain and the inland Cilento ridges.
