The cluster sits on the low inland hills between Sassari and the inner Romangia, with open agricultural country and volcanic trachyte outcrops in this part of north-west Sardinia. The Romanesque basilica of Saccargia is at Codrongianos itself and is one of the best-known medieval churches in Sardinia. Sassari is the nearest city of size and has full services, a university, major retail and rail connections. Porto Torres and the Gulf of Asinara coast are beyond the immediate radius, so they matter for access to the sea but not for the landscape score. The area is known for grain fields, grazing land and historic rural churches.
