Via Padre Gaudenzio Cianci, Sortino

The cluster sits on the Hyblean Plateau (Monti Iblei), with the Monte Lauro massif nearby. The Cassibile river runs through the Cavagrande del Cassibile canyon a few kilometres away. Cavagrande del Cassibile is protected as the Riserva Naturale Orientata Cavagrande del Cassibile. Local towns of relevance on the coast include Avola and Noto, which provide beaches and rail connections; Sortino provides local services and the city of Syracuse lies further along the coast. The rock-cut necropolis of Pantalica, part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing 'Syracuse and the Rocky Necropolis of Pantalica', is within the same area. The surrounding landscape is limestone karst on the Hyblean plateau with ravines and gorges; surrounding agriculture includes vineyards, olive groves and almond cultivation typical of the Val di Noto area.
