Cortino

Torricella Sicura occupies lower foothills of the central Apennines in Teramo province. The immediate 15 km around the town is a mix of farmland, olive groves and wooded hills typical of inland Abruzzo. The Tordino river valley and its tributaries form the main lowland corridor nearby. Higher Apennine peaks (the Gran Sasso massif) are visible to the south but the main summits and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga national-park core lie beyond roughly 15–20 km. Nearest town of size is Teramo (provincial capital) about 10–15 km away, with a railway station, hospital and provincial-level shops and services. The Adriatic coast is about 35 km to the east. Nearest downhill ski lifts (Prati di Tivo on the Gran Sasso) are around 25–30 km by road.
