This is the flat Venetian plain between Mestre and Treviso, with a dense network of roads, rail lines, drainage canals and scattered industry around the settled belt. The Sile River and its springs area lie nearby around Quinto di Treviso and Casier, with the Parco Naturale Regionale del Fiume Sile protecting a lowland river landscape of water meadows, towpaths and riparian woodland. Treviso is the nearest town of size, with a walled historic centre, canals and full city services; Mestre and the edge of Venice are also close for daily life but do not change the immediate landscape. The area is known for villa country on the mainland and for intensive agriculture on the plain.
