The cluster sits on the Friulian plain close to the Marano Lagoon and the lower course of the Aussa-Corno river system. The Adriatic coast is nearby, with the lagoon environment and channels around Marano Lagunare forming the main natural feature within daily view of this area. The nearest larger centres are Cervignano del Friuli and Monfalcone, which provide the usual rail, shops and services, and Udine is the main city inland. Aquileia, with the UNESCO archaeological area and basilica, is nearby, though its importance is historical rather than scenic.
