The area sits in the Varese hills between the lower Campo dei Fiori massif and the chain of pre-Alpine lakes around Varese. Lake Varese is within a few kilometres, and Lake Comabbio and Lake Monate are also nearby. Campo dei Fiori Regional Park is the main protected area close to Brunello. The nearest town of size is Varese, which has a historic centre, rail links and the main services of the province. This part of the province is known for wooded morainic hills, small lakes, cycling and rowing around the lakes, and dense settlement along the roads toward Varese and Gallarate.
