The cluster is in the built-up area of Vicenza, so the immediate setting is an inland city on the Bacchiglione River and its urban fringe rather than open countryside. The Berici Hills rise just south of the city and the foothills toward the Prealps begin to the north, but these are outside the urban fabric. Vicenza is the nearest town of size and has a large historic centre with Palladian buildings, including UNESCO-listed City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto. The area is known for Palladian architecture and as a provincial service and manufacturing centre in the central Veneto plain.
