The cluster sits in the city of Vicenza, whose historic centre is part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing “City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto” for Andrea Palladio's architecture. The city contains major Palladian monuments including the Basilica Palladiana and the Teatro Olimpico, with Villa La Rotonda on the city's edge. The Bacchiglione river runs through Vicenza. Monte Berico and the Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico lie immediately to the south of the historic centre.
