The cluster sits on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast at Pizzo; the sea and small bays are immediately accessible from town. On a rocky promontory above the water stands the Castello Murat (the town's castle). Below the castle and carved into the tufa is the Chiesetta di Piedigrotta, a cave church with carved statues. Pizzo has a small fishing port, a seafront promenade and local beaches with boat access. The area is known for the Tartufo di Pizzo (a local ice-cream specialty) and for seafood/Calabrian cuisine. The provincial capital Vibo Valentia is within about 15 km and provides a train station, larger shops and hospital services. There are no national or regional parks or ski lifts within roughly 15 km. The nearest major airport is Lamezia Terme International Airport, about 50–60 km to the north.
