The cluster is in the Montagna Pistoiese on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, with the Abetone pass and the ridges around Monte Gomito and Libro Aperto within the local landscape. The Lima stream valley is part of the immediate area. The area is tied to the Abetone ski domain, with lifts around Abetone generally a short drive away depending on the exact hamlet. Cutigliano is the nearest small centre with a historic hill village, and San Marcello Piteglio is the nearest larger mountain-town service centre in this part of the province. This part of the Apennines is known for mountain tourism, forests and winter sports.
