The Arno runs nearby in the valley below. Part of the municipality reaches into the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park. The nearest larger town is Figline Valdarno in the Arno valley, with rail services, shops and everyday services; Florence is farther west beyond the Valdarno. The area is known for olive groves and for the Abbey of Vallombrosa in the forested uplands.
