This is Po plain country near the Po River, with flat agricultural land, irrigation channels and scattered villages. The nearest town of size is Pavia, which has a substantial historic centre, university and services. The area is known for arable farming and, in the wider Oltrepò Pavese to the south, for vineyards, but around Rea itself the immediate landscape is the low plain.
