Casale in Pezzana

This is the eastern Vercelli plain, in the rice country between the Po and Sesia rivers. The Po runs a few kilometres south of Caresana and the Sesia is also close by to the east, with flat fields, irrigation channels and poplar-lined roads forming the immediate landscape. Casale Monferrato is the nearest larger town, with a substantial historic centre and everyday services. The area is known for rice cultivation in the plain and for the transition toward the Monferrato hills a little farther west.
