This is high Alpine country with forested slopes, pastures and glacial peaks around the head of the valley. The nearest ski area is Aprica, roughly an hour’s drive depending on road conditions; Ponte di Legno–Tonale is farther and does not sit inside the immediate area. Edolo is the nearest larger town in the upper valley, with rail connection, shops and services.
