The Cordevole river runs through Agordo. The Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park begins just south and west of the town, and the wider Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage site. The nearest major ski areas are in the Arabba-Marmolada and Civetta zones, reached by mountain roads in roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on the base lift. Belluno is the nearest larger town, with full services and rail links. The area is known for alpine valleys, climbing and access to some of the classic Dolomite massifs.
