Roccamonfina is the main named natural feature in the area, an extinct volcanic mountain with chestnut woods and hill villages around it. Cassino is the nearest larger town, with full services, rail links and the abbey of Montecassino on the hill above the town. The area is known for chestnuts on the Roccamonfina side and for the Garigliano valley farmland.
