The Parco Lombardo della Valle del Ticino lies on the west side of the city and follows the river with woods, gravel banks and farmland. Pavia is the nearest town of size and has a large historic centre, the covered bridge over the Ticino, and the Certosa di Pavia a few kilometres to the north. The area is known for the rice plain and for the Oltrepò Pavese wine hills farther south, but those hills are outside the immediate 15 km landscape.
