Piazza Francesco Bellelli, Buccino

The cluster sits in the upper Sele valley, with the Lucanian Apennines close by and the Picentini mountains farther west. The Sele river basin shapes the area around Buccino, with cultivated valley floor and ridges rising on both sides. The Monti Picentini Regional Park begins to the west, with mountain roads leading toward places such as Oliveto Citra and Contursi Terme. Buccino itself is known for the archaeological site of ancient Volcei and for its old hilltop centre above the valley. The nearest larger town is Eboli, which has a full range of services and rail connections.
