The nearest ski lifts are in the Monte Livata area above Subiaco, roughly an hour by road depending on the exact starting point. Tivoli is the nearest substantial town, with major historic villas including Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa, both UNESCO-listed, and Rome is the main city for services and transport. This stretch of eastern Lazio is known for the limestone hill country of the Roman Apennine foothills and for the historic towns along the Via Tiburtina and the Aniene valley.
