Quadrilocale

The cluster lies at the foot of Monte Sammucro in the eastern sector of the Monti Aurunci / Antiappennino laziale-campano, with low limestone mountains and narrow valleys immediately around it. The upper Volturno valley is nearby and the landscape is the inland border country between Campania, Lazio and Molise rather than a plain. The Parco della Memoria Storica di San Pietro Infine, centred on the ruins of the old war-damaged village, is in the immediate area and is one of the main historic sites of the Winter Line campaign. Mignano Monte Lungo and the motorway corridor toward Cassino are close by; Cassino is the nearest larger town with full services and rail connections. The area is known above all for Second World War battle sites and for olive groves and upland rural terrain.
