Location score 58/100Camerino sits in the central Marche Apennines, surrounded by hilly, forested terrain of the Appennino marchigiano. The town contains the Università di Camerino and a medieval historic centre with cathedral and civic buildings. The area was affected by the 2016–2017 central Italy earthquakes and some reconstruction work has been ongoing since. The Sibillini Mountains and the Sibillini National Park lie to the south at roughly 30–40 km and host the nearest ski lifts (Sarnano–Sassotetto, Bolognola). The provincial capital Macerata is the nearest city of significant size (≈30 km) with a regional hospital, rail connections and provincial services. Local land use is mixed: small-scale agriculture, woodland/forestry and services linked to the university and local administration.
