The nearest town of size is the built-up area of Corigliano-Rossano itself, a large urban municipality with ports, beaches, commercial areas and the historic hill centres of Rossano and Corigliano above the plain. Rossano is known for the Codex Purpureus, on UNESCO's Memory of the World register, and for liquorice production in this part of the Ionian Calabrian coast.
