Urbisaglia contains the archaeological park of Urbs Salvia with visible Roman remains including an amphitheatre and a theatre. A medieval fortress (Rocca) and a compact historic centre stand on the hill above the surrounding countryside. The immediate surroundings are farmed rolling hills with olive groves, vineyards, small woodlands and agricultural valleys. Small local roads and hamlets are typical; settlements are low-density and rural in character. The nearest larger town is Tolentino (local shops, services and a railway station); the provincial capital Macerata is the nearest city-scale centre within a short drive. There is no UNESCO, national-park or other national-level protection covering the town itself. The area is locally known for the Urbs Salvia archaeological site and for regional agricultural products (olive oil, wine).
