The cluster is in the Madonie, with the limestone massifs around Monte San Salvatore and Monte delle Rose shaping the local landscape. The Madonie Regional Natural Park lies within this area. Petralia Sottana is the nearest small town of note and has a preserved historic centre and services; farther on, Castelbuono is one of the better-known historic centres of the Madonie. The nearest ski lifts are at Piano Battaglia in the Madonie, roughly a 35 to 45 minute drive depending on the exact starting point. This part of inland Palermo province is known for mountain villages, beech and oak woodland at higher elevations, and traditional pastoral and cereal country.
