The cluster lies in the Campidano plain, with low cultivated ground around it and no major relief inside the immediate area. The nearest substantial town is Cagliari, which has the port, airport, university and the main services of southern Sardinia. Within about 15 km there are also the inland lagoons and wetlands around the lower course of the Flumini Mannu and Santa Gilla on the Cagliari side, though the setting here is mainly agricultural plain rather than coast. This part of southern Sardinia is known for cereal farming, vineyards and olive groves.
