Bilocale in Via dell'Anello

The cluster sits in the Piana Reatina, a flat basin around the town of Rieti. The plain is ringed by Apennine foothills, including parts of the Monti Sabini to the west and the Monti Reatini to the north-east; Monte Terminillo is the highest nearby summit but its ski lifts lie outside the 15 km radius. The river Velino runs through the area. Two small lakes, Lago Lungo and Lago Ripasottile, lie immediately south of Rieti and are protected as the Riserva Naturale Lago Lungo e Lago Ripasottile. The nearest alpine ski facilities are on Monte Terminillo to the north-east and require a drive beyond the local 15 km landscape. The nearest town of size is Rieti itself (provincial capital), which provides administrative offices, shops, a hospital and secondary schools. The surrounding countryside is a mix of arable land, pasture and wooded slopes and the area is historically known as the Umbilicus Italiae (centre of Italy).
