Via Siracusa, 27, Giarratana

The cluster sits in the Monti Iblei (Hyblaean Mountains), a low limestone plateau and hill country in southeastern Sicily. The immediate landscape is karstic hills and plateaus with mixed dryland agriculture: olive groves, vineyards, almond and cereal fields and scattered wooded patches. There are no high mountains or ski facilities in the vicinity and the coast lies to the south. Nearest city of size is Ragusa, which provides shops, public services and a hospital. The wider area is known for the Baroque towns of the Val di Noto (including Ragusa, Modica and Scicli) and for agricultural produce from the Iblei hinterland. Local settlement pattern is small hilltop towns and dispersed farmsteads.
